24-7 Drivers Christmas Party

Our last Drivers Christmas party was great fun. We had a brilliant turnout, with lots of laughs! It’s our way of saying a big thank you to all our drivers for their hard work throughout the year, and for being a vital part of the 24-7 community. Hope you all had fun!

24-7 Team Building!

The entire 24-7 staff team spend an annual weekend away to discuss the previous year’s achievements as well as this year’s new and exciting goals. It’s a fantastic team building exercise and a great way to introduce new ways of improving our service, both for our loyal drivers and our valued customers.

James has gone the extra mile

We all come under extra pressure from time to time and it’s great to know that our drivers are willing to help customers when this happens. After completing a full days work, James returned to the yard to hand in his keys, when he discovered that the branch managers wife and children were stranded in the pouring rain a few miles away with a flat tyre. On a busy Friday afternoon, the customer was struggling to leave the office.

Without hesitation James jumped in his car drove down to meet the family and changed the tyre so they could get home safely.

Miles of smiles - supporting the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Appeal

An important part of our Community is local charities. For 2008/2009, we are proud to support the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Appeal. At the end of our financial year, we will donate 1p for every hour we drive. With so many drivers on so many jobs, we are certainly clocking up the hours!

Congratulations AJ!

Yate Branch Manager and Class I Driver, AJ Wilcox has passed his CPC test (Certificate in Professional Competence) with Wiltshire Transport Training. AJ said: “ This is a qualification I have wanted to gain for a number of years as a personal life goal, as well as on a professional level. I have acquired new skills within the transport industry that can be used in supporting both drivers and clients alike re-enforcing 24-7 Drivers position in the market place as a specialist driving recruitment business."

24-7 Training Successes

With an acute national driver skills shortage, 24-7 Drivers recognise the importance of investing in training for local drivers. Not only do we put one new class one driver on the road every year, but we also identify suitable candidates for further training on specialist equipment such as HIAB and ADR, or even a straight forward upgrade to increase a driver’s earning potential.

We also support various government funded schemes aimed at putting more drivers on the road and improving skills for the local industry. Our investment in both time and money make a significant difference to people’s lives by increasing earning potential, creating work opportunities and building self esteem which all have a positive effect on personal relationships.

The result for the transport industry is dramatically improved driving standards as well as easing the burden on the driver shortage. It means more deliveries are met for hundreds of clients in the local community with fewer accidents.

Driver of the year

Although there were plenty of very worthy candidates, and even after setting some very strict criteria, we still found it impossible to choose one driver.

Not only does this prove the extremely high standard of drivers that we have working for us, but ultimately they have proved that agency drivers are amongst the very best in the industry. They can drive anything, anytime, anywhere for anyone.

Both of these drivers work consistently hard, are extremely flexible to the needs of our clients, ultra reliable with positive, polite attitude and have proved their loyalty on more than once occasion.

Congratulations to both Nigel Green and Jim D Greek for winning this year’s much sought after driver of the year award! Well done guys - Keep up the great work!

Truckitts

Suzi, the real life size ISUZU Truckitt, fronted a 24-7 drivers sponsored tour of local nurseries, in the in the aim of raising awareness and sparking interest in our industry. After a true trucker story and the chance to sit behind the wheel, a full set of Truckitt story books was donated to participating nursery schools to keep for buddy little truckers.

Wiltshire Business Awards

The Wiltshire Business Awards is one of the most prestigious events in the South West region bringing together and celebrating the achievements of local businesses. 

24-7 were delighted to be selected as finalists in our category from over 200 entries.  We were judged on various business issues from key successes, financial planning, marketing strategy, staff retention, training, everyday values, future objectives, community involvement and relationships with customers.

Managing Director, Julian Thompson commended his hard working staff and drivers for their efforts in helping to achieve this nomination. “Our main goal in business is to make both our clients and drivers happy, after all we only succeed as a business if they do.”
