At the heart of 24-7 Staffing are people:
Our candidates, our clients and our team.
And it is people who are also at the start of the 24-7 Staffing story: our co-directors Julian and
Melody Thompson – with a little help from a nightclub, immigration, and a passion for the driving
sector. Intrigued? Read on…
The 24-7 Staffing story
The origins of the 24-7 Staffing story go back to the early ’90s when Julian and Melody met at
Goldiggers Nightclub in Chippenham and began dating.
A year into their relationship, Melody – who was visiting the UK from South Africa with her parents –
was faced with the imminent expiration of her visa and having to return home.
The couple decided to get married, and the rest – as they say – is history. Fortunately for Melody’s
parents, at the last minute they were able to track down the birth certificate of Melody’s UK born
great grandfather and they were also able to remain.
So why 24-7 Staffing?
Fast forward a few years to 2004. Julian had built up an extensive knowledge of the transport sector, together with sales and recruitment experience making a perfect combination to provide a recruitment service for the driving sector.
He and Melody decided to divert a £20,000 loan they had taken out for a kitchen and home extension into setting up a new business. Melody, who was in software sales, went to work full time to support the family (by now they had two young boys) and Julian founded 24-7 Staffing, specialising in Driving recruitment.
Within six months, the company was such a success it was able to repay the £20,000. Julian and Melody didn’t extend the kitchen - instead, they moved to a larger house. In 2004, Melody joined Julian in the business, bringing with her extensive sales and marketing experience.
Roll forward to 2011 and the old Goldiggers site is up for sale. With a lovely twist of fate, 24-7 Staffing was able to buy part of the premises and set up a large Chippenham headquarters, now with room to expand into other sectors.
First Industrial and then Commercial recruitment were added. Then a second branch was opened to serve the Bristol market.
In 2014, within a few weeks of each other, a fourth sector – Healthcare – was created, and the Salisbury branch opened.
Today, 24-7 Staffing, headed by Julian and Melody and a great management team, is a great Wiltshire business success story.
Our team work hard to perfectly place people in their chosen roles. We have fun along the way, with many team building activities, fundraising and events to support charities and good causes. We have even won an award or two, including Services to the Community as part of Wiltshire Business Awards.
