Wessex Water are the regional water and sewage treatment business serving an area of the south west of England, covering 10,000 square kilometres including Dorset, Somerset, Bristol, most of Wiltshire and parts of Gloucestershire and Hampshire.
They are committed to giving all their customers excellent standards of service by providing high quality water and environmental services that protect health improve the environment and give customers good value for money. They are recognised by the water industry regulator, Ofwat, as one of the most efficient water and sewerage companies in England and Wales.
Their transport team had a preferred supplier agreement with another agency but they had concerns over transport compliance issues. Following a recommendation and presentation 24-7 Staffing were appointed as a new supplier in January 2012 transporting sludge to the treatment plant for purification in Avonmouth Sewerage Treatment Works.
Initially ten 24-7 Staffing C+E Tanker Drivers completed the Wessex internal company induction which was then followed up with three days intensive training.
This decision was largely based on the in depth transport knowledge of our staff who are also National CPC holders. We soon became an extension of their transport team and our internal procedures for rigorously monitoring EU Drivers Hours filled them with confidence as they operate a zero tolerance to infringements which we have successfully upheld.
Using sophisticated software and a digital tacho reader combined with a strict vetting procedure for new drivers means the Wessex transport team never has to worry about compliance and their O licence is always safe.
After consistently delivering these results for ten months to this site the transport department recommended us to their Poole depot that were looking for a C Class Jet Vac Driver operating out of Avonmouth. It wasn't long before 24-7 Staffing filled this on-going assignment with another specialist driver.
24-7 Staffing have recently been involved with helping to set the benchmarking standards for the first FTA Agency accreditation and continue to develop our internal procedures in line with this. A training division has been set up offering Drivers CPC Training to both clients and new recruits providing further evidence of our commitment to raising the standards within the transport industry.
The service we provide helps Wessex Water to maximise their profits with efficient tanker vehicle transportation as well as minimise costs for the hire of external contractors. Through continued hard work and dedication we hope to extend our relationship with Wessex Water and are hopeful of new opportunities in the pipeline in 2013.
