Taking on a new permanent staff member is an important undertaking. Not only should they be the right person for the job, they have to be the right person for your business.
And if you’re a candidate, starting a new permanent role is equally daunting. On paper, the job and company may seem perfect, but will this be the case in practice?
There is a solution that we offer at 24-7 Staffing. For an employer, it is a little like a ‘try before you buy’ option. For a candidate, it’s a practice period with a new boss.
We call it our ‘temp-to-perm’ route, and it’s proving very successful for employers and employees alike.
So what is a temp-to-perm?
Quite simply, temp-to-perm is where we place an individual with one of our clients on our payroll for a period of up to 16 weeks. After this qualifying period the client can offer the candidate a permanent role with their organisation without paying an additional recruitment fee.
So what are the benefits to candidates and clients?
From a client’s perspective they get to trial an individual and gauge performance, reliability, punctuality and team fit. From a candidate’s point of view, they get the chance to assess if it is the right job for them, without taking that big leap and going straight into a permanent role.
One major benefit for both sides is that it can be a quicker route to employment, because the individual can start immediately as the team here at 24-7 Staffing have already carried out ‘right to work’ checks, and the candidate will already have been reference-checked.
Of course, this arrangement isn’t suitable for all situations, but it works really well if the client or candidate are not completely sure if it’s the right choice for them.
