Relationships and targets: we find out what makes Meg tick

Meg Morrell

At 24-7 Staffing we have a fantastic team working across our three branches in Chippenham, Yate and Amesbury.

Running our Amesbury office, near Salisbury, is Meg. Let’s meet her…

Meg grew up near Marlborough, later moving to Tidworth with her partner, and they have just bought their first house in Andover.

Meg began her career in recruitment after she had completed an apprenticeship in business and administration.

The company she was working for was in plant hire, and she was asked to help recruit for some vacancies they had.

“We had a few drivers who had left so they asked me to place some job adverts and posts on social media to see if we could find anyone. I then helped recruit for other roles internally, booking people in for interview and so on. That was my first taste of recruitment, I knew then that I really loved that part of my role.”

Meg had found her forte, and decided a career in recruitment was for her.

“As soon as my apprenticeship finished, I got my first job as a recruitment consultant. I knew a little bit from what I had been doing with the plant hire firm, but since then I have learned so much more and have made it work for me as a career.”

From then on, it was recruitment all the way for Meg, who worked first for a recruitment company in Winchester in driver recruitment, before joining the 24-7 Staffing team in Amesbury.

Meg has now been with us for just over three years, and has worked her way up to become our fantastic branch manager.

“I’d been doing driver recruitment before at my previous job but not industrial recruitment, so it was really great to be able to combine both when I joined 24-7 Staffing,” said Meg.

So, what is it about recruitment that Meg so enjoys?

“I really love the sales element. That is, going out to meet new clients, finding out what they need and the types of candidates they are looking for, and then working really hard to fill those roles. A massive part of it for me is the relationship building, with clients and with our candidates, and that’s what I thrive on. Strengthening relationships and making new relationships is so exciting.”

And there’s a third element that Meg loves: targets!

“I love having targets. Having that feeling when you’ve met a target, gives me such job satisfaction. I love the pressure of it and the buzz.”

And Meg also relishes a challenge. “We sometimes have candidates who want a certain job but may not think they’re able to achieve it. I really love it when I can place that type of candidate in the job they really want. When they’re happy and getting on well in the role, it makes me very happy too.”

At 24-7 Staffing, we’re currently recruiting for our office in Amesbury; someone to join Meg and the rest of the team on driver and industrial recruitment. We also specialise in commercial and healthcare recruitment.

Meg said: “They don’t necessarily need experience, as we can provide training, but we are looking for someone with a positive, can-do attitude who wants to thrive.”

They’ll be working with some of our great clients too, including a distribution company in Andover, a warehouse in Amesbury, a uniform supply company and many more.

“We have a fantastic relationship with our clients, and that’s really at the heart of successful recruitment,” said Meg.
