Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an integrated care and support service that promotes independence to all residents. You will deliver excellent resident services in a friendly manner, treating all residents with dignity and respect, work flexibly with residents to meet their individual needs and preferences, comply with care and support plans and achieve positive outcomes for each person 

You will report to the Team Leader and will ensure that individual care and support plans are adhered to and delivered according to the residents’ wishes and in compliance with CQC standards and regulations.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for the unobtrusive care and support of residents in their own home, meeting their individual needs and preferences, whilst working in a flexible, respectful and caring manner
  • Assist with all aspects of personal care and daily living
  • To provide personal care to residents in accordance with their care and support plans
  • To provide planned and emergency care at nights
  • Under supervision and in strict compliance with the care plan guidelines, administer medication as appropriate and accurately record as instructed
  • Act as a fire warden when on shift
  • To provide further support to residents in accordance with the care and support plans, for example cooking and laundry
  • Complete and regularly update the residents’ daily record on their care and support plans, with residents, within the agreed timeframes, immediately reporting any noncompliance/change of need or any other issues to the Team Leader
  • Actively promote and encourage the participation of residents in an innovative and creative range of social activities, within the service, which aim to promote social inclusion and minimise the risk of isolation 
  • To carry out other duties as may be required from time to time

 

About you:

Essential

  • Ability to demonstrate continuous professional development track record
  • Diploma Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care, or willingness to achieve this
  • Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills
  • Willing to attend training and learn new skills as required
  • Be flexible to work the following shift patterns:
    • 8am-2pm
    • 2pm-10pm
    • 10pm-8am

Desirable

  • Basic Health and Safety certificate
  • Basic Manual Handling certificate
  • First Aid certificate
 

Experience

Essential

  • Current work experience in the care and support sector (working with vulnerable and older people)
  • Ability to work alone and with limited supervision
  • Experience of completing care plans and other required documentation accurately
  • Experience of Manual Handling techniques and Health and Safety
  • Knowledge and understanding of working confidentially and maintaining professional boundaries
  • Good communication skills
  • Practical and flexible approach in delivering care and support to our residents
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to act decisively
 

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a similar environment
  • Experience of work in charity/not for profit sector
  • Knowledge and experience in the completion of risk assessments
  • Work independently and manage time well
