Job Description

We are looking for a support worker to join a team who work on a one-to-one basis with particular individuals who have a service built around their specific needs.  This can involve supporting people in a variety of situations, in the home environment, or in the wider community.

As our client provides 24/7 support you need to be able to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, some nights and Bank Holidays.

 

Job Role:

  • Help maintain records of details of any special needs/medical treatment required by service users
  • Support adults with learning disabilities with all aspects of daily living skills and promoting individual’s independence
  • Assist and encourage people to engage in everyday home, social, leisure and work activities, according to the individual’s choice
  • Support the residents to the highest standard and in line with their support plan, cultural needs and wishes
  • Promote health, safety and well-being of the people we support
  • Work positively with colleagues, families and external organisations and professionals
  • Support people with their health needs as required, e.g. taking medication and attending doctor’s appointments
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Undertake any other duties as appropriate

 

About you:

  • Ability to work within a supervised structure to achieve agreed goals
  • Must be Medication and Epilepsy & Rescue Medication trained
  • Be able to work independently when necessary
  • Driving licence and own transport is beneficial
  • Display a caring, compassionate, and empathetic nature
  • Willingness to learn to work alongside people with mental health problems and to learn new skills
  • Honest, trustworthy and polite, reliable, committed and responsible
  • Ability to communicate own needs and to recognise and communicate when unsure of other’s needs
  • Be able to cope under pressure, remain calm and composed when faced with challenging situations
